1. Please introduce your company.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries(HHI), founded by the late Chairman Chung Ju-young on March 23, 1972, wrote the first chapter in shipbuilding history by simultaneously completing the world's largest shipyard and two 260,000 DWT VLCCs in June 1974.

It swiftly ascended to become the world’s top shipyard within a decade of its establishment and has maintained the leading position in the world shipbuilding market ever since.

HHI has diversified its business into offshore plants and engine machinery businesses based on the technological capabilities it has accumulated through its shipbuilding business transforming into a globally renowned comprehensive heavy industry company over the past 50 years.

And HHI has specialized, skilled manpower, streamlined facilities and the technology to design and construct a variety of modern sophisticated naval vessels. It executes major naval vessel construction projects for the Korean Navy & Coast Guard. HHI is also the builder of the Royal New Zealand Navy's logistics support vessel, as well as the Philippine Navy's two multi-purpose frigates.

1) HDP SERIES

HD HHI's Offshore Patrol Vessels are multi-mission platforms with high versatility developed based on 40 years’ worth of know-how, experience and latest shipbuilding technologies.

The vessel is applied with a future-oriented design and clean superstructure for reduced RCS signature. Optimized, simplified internal layout provides better crew habitability. With a wide range and a long endurance, the vessel can cover wide area of water.

It can adapt to a variety of tasks, from EEZ border surveillance to search and rescue (SAR) and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions, but still affordable. Based on various proven platforms and technologies, it can be altered according to the needs of individual clients.

4. What is your competitive advantage?

4. What is your competitive advantage?

We possess over 15,000 pieces of cutting-edge shipbuilding technology, including AI/AR, and have the most extensive domestic experience in developing vessels over 3,000 tons. Furthermore, we boast a globally top-tier specialized organization and workforce, along with approximately 1,900 specialized personnel and facilities for shipbuilding. Additionally, the specifics of our competitive edge are outlined as follows:

We apply a systematic engineering-based research and development process, enabling early identification and resolution of risks, optimizing costs, and adhering to construction schedules.

To address crew reduction and future operational environment changes, we utilize validated smart technologies (such as Hi CAMS video surveillance, Hi BAS berth assistance, Hi NAS navigation support).

We possess AI-based design technology (AI-based linear optimization) and environmentally friendly technology (such as eco-friendly hybrid propulsion systems).

By constructing a Marine Data Aggregation (MDA) platform, we ensure future scalability.

Utilizing our Twin FOS (Future Of Shipyard) system, we enhance design completeness, reduce lead times, improve quality, and ensure safety.

Through interconnected design experience, validated interdisciplinary research and development processes, and specialized organization, we strive for the highest quality in detailed design.

We have a comprehensive R&D workforce (including Future Ship Research Labs, Energy Research Labs) and facilities (such as model basins, welding laboratories) throughout the organization.

We construct vessels based on data through real-time monitoring management systems and apply the latest shipbuilding methods.

For accident-free operations, we have invested a total of KRW 816.5 billion over 3 years in safety management, including establishing a dedicated safety management organization and developing over 4,600 safety operation standards.

We have established the NexOS-Q, the nation's highest level of quality management process for shipbuilding, to continually improve quality.
