🚩Booth No. K101

1. Please introduce your company.

As a leader in South Korea's satellite communications industry, KT SAT has established a global satellite network connecting the world based on the expertise and technical capabilities accumulated over the past 50 years since the opening of the Kumsan Satellite Center in 1970. We possess unrivaled infrastructure, including the Kumsan Satellite Center, Asia's largest satellite teleport, and the Yongin Satellite Control Center, the heart of South Korea's satellite management. Through five broadcasting and communications satellites, we provide extensive coverage encompassing Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as major maritime regions.

Going beyond simple infrastructure provision, we support managed satellite services optimized for our customers' businesses and achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction through a 24/7, 365-day uninterrupted operation system. Furthermore, in line with the trends of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, KT SAT continues to innovate through the standardization of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite and 5G-satellite technologies. By integrating security technologies based on quantum encryption and blockchain, we are leading the way in creating a 'Hyper-Connected Mobility' environment that connects safely and perfectly across land, sea, and air.

2. What is your company's main theme for KOREA OCEAN EXPO, and which core capabilities or technologies would you like to highlight the most?

At this exhibition, we have set our main theme as 'The Future of Hyper-Connected Satellite Networks Spanning Land, Sea, and Air.' To this end, we plan to showcase our unrivaled technological prowess centered on four core pillars: Aviation Satellite Solutions, Maritime Satellite Solutions, Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Solutions, and Space Observation Solutions.

The core competency we wish to emphasize most at this exhibition is our 'Aviation Satellite Solution.' We intend to focus on introducing high-speed satellite communication technology applicable to aircraft, such as the CN-235 maritime patrol aircraft currently being pursued by the Korea Coast Guard.

Satellite communication is an essential element for aviation forces monitoring vast sea areas and conducting operations. Our solution supports real-time video transmission and command and control even in maritime environments where communication infrastructure is non-existent, through advanced satellite tracking technology and the securing of stable bandwidth. Through this opportunity, we will present a specific vision of how the technical capabilities we have accumulated as South Korea’s sole satellite operator can contribute to actual maritime safety and operational efficiency.

3. Please introduce your products used by the Korea Coast Guard or government agencies, or those under development or intended for supply.

To contribute to the protection of South Korea's maritime territory and the maintenance of maritime security, we propose a next-generation satellite antenna solution for naval vessels. This product is a Ku/Ka dual-band multi-orbit VSAT system optimized for Korea Coast Guard vessels and government ships, possessing the following unrivaled strengths:

  • Electronic Band Switching: With a single command, the system can electronically switch between Ku-band and Ka-band operation immediately. This allows for flexible responses to the satellite environment or bandwidth requirements of an operational area without the need for hardware conversion kits or modifications.
  • Multi-orbit Support: Based on proven antenna design, the system is capable of tracking not only existing Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellites but also Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. This maximizes real-time video surveillance and command-and-control capabilities by enabling low-latency, high-speed data connectivity at sea.
  • Maintaining Stable Connectivity: Through an embedded antenna mediator, it supports a dual-antenna configuration. This prevents communication blockage caused by ship structures and ensures seamless, uninterrupted connectivity in any situation.
  • Robust Environmental Adaptability: The system is designed to meet extreme temperature conditions ranging from -25°C to +55°C (Power On) and satisfies maritime standards for strong vibration and shock, such as IEC-60945. This ensures stable operation even in harsh maritime environments.
